Starting a Charging session using the Payter payment terminal.
- Locate the reader - Make sure you are aware of the location of the Payment terminal before plugging into the charger. Multiple charge points are often connected to one payment terminal, which may not be directly visible from the charge point location. Please note that RFID readers and Contactless payment Terminals, often operate independently. If your card is being rejected, you may be using the incorrect reader.
- Plug in - Plug your vehicle into the charge point you wish to use. Make sure the connector is fully inserted in both the vehicle and the charge point.
- Go to the Payment terminal - You should see a preauthorization fee displayed on the screen, as well as a message that says "Plugged into PR1234? Swipe to start". If the payment terminal is displaying the ID number of the charge point you have plugged into, proceed to the next step. Please note that this screen will disappear after 45 seconds and will require you to restart if card not detected in this time.
- Swipe your payment method on the terminal - After a few seconds it will acknowledge that the card has been accepted and instruct the charge point to begin your session.
- Confirmation - Return to the charge point / car to confirm the charging session has began.

- Remove the cable from your car first - If you are not familiar with how to unlock the cable from your vehicle, the most common methods for disconnecting are;
- Unlocking the vehicle
- Double pressing the unlock button on your vehicles keys
- Holding the unlock button on your vehicles keys
- Pressing an unlock button on the dashboard of the vehicle
- Pressing an unlock button from the vehicles app
- Remove the cable from the charger - Once the charger has detected the cable is no longer connected to the vehicle it will also unlock the cable. This may take up to 30 seconds on some chargers.
