There may be various reasons that stop you starting a charge.

We suggest you check for these common occurrences and try again, but please get in touch if you need to.

  • Check that the cable is correctly connected to the vehicle - it may be worth removing the cable from the vehicle and connecting the cable again. If using a ChaDeMo connector there is typically a mechanism (such as a trigger) that should "click" into position when connected.
  • Check that the cable is correctly connected to the charge point - some charge points will have a tethered cable so this should not be a problem, but if not, it may be worth removing the cable from the charge point and connecting the cable again.
  • Check that vehicle is turned off. Vehicles will not allow a charging event to begin while the ignition is on.
  • Check that there are no charging timing schedules activated ion the vehicle. Most electric vehicles allow you to set charging times (to charge overnight on cheaper tariffs for example), which may prevent you charging during the day if they are active.
  • Check the vehicle app (if you have one). Some apps can let you set up timing schedules (which you may need to deactivate) or control the charging demand of the vehicle by starting / pausing charging, or allow you to change the rate of charge.
  • Doe the charge point have a display screen? If it does, follow the instructions on the screen. It may advise that there is a fault, or you may have to press a button or make a selection before charging.
  • Check for faults - normally charge points have lights to indicate their status. If you can't see them, or they are red there may be a problem with the charge point. If this is the case, please call us as we may be able to resolve the issue, or advise when the charge point will be fixed.
  • Start again! Sometimes starting from the beginning can help. Unplug everything, close the app/webpage if you are using it and begin the process from the start. Although this can be frustrating and time consuming, it can help to start afresh.
