The quickest and easiest way to end a charge and release your cable from a charge point is to unlock and remove the cable from your vehicle first
If you are not familiar with how to unlock the cable from your vehicle, the most common methods for disconnecting are;
- Unlocking the vehicle by using the unlock button on your key fob (some vehicles require a "double press" or a "press and hold" of the unlock button)
- Pressing an unlock button on the vehicle's central console display
- Selecting "unlock" from the vehicle app
Once unlocked, remove the charging cable from the vehicle.
Once the cable is removed from the vehicle, the charge point will unlock and release the cable from the charge point
The charge point detects that the charging cable is no longer connected to the vehicle, and it will unlock the cable from the socket, ending charge and releasing the charging cable.
If you are charging using a rapid charger (CCS or ChaDeMo connector), you will need to end the charging cycle manually. This is normally achieved through interacting with the charge point, selecting "stop" or "end" via the charge point display screen(s) or button(s).
